Six Manufacturer Certifications Turned Into Selling Points

Thirty years of outdoor living work in Maryland, presented as an engineered product line instead of a service list.

    The Challenge

Custom Design & Build has been building sunrooms, decks, pergolas, awnings, screen rooms and porch roofs across Maryland for three decades with their own crews and no subcontracted middlemen. They are a Trex Pro Platinum contractor, an authorized Sunspace dealer, a certified Azenco installer and an Alutech awning dealer. Those partnerships are worth real money in a category where homeowners cannot tell one deck builder from another, and they were reading like a logo strip. The other issue is that a sunroom buyer and a deck buyer are shopping for different outcomes and need different pages.

    Problems Identified

    • Manufacturer certifications reading as decoration, not proof
    • Six product lines with different buyers and price points
    • A crowded Maryland market full of interchangeable deck builders
    • Three season versus four season confusion costing sales conversations
    • Thirty years of history and a strong review profile underused

    What We Built

We rebuilt the site around products instead of services. Every line gets its own page with real explanations: sunrooms and three season rooms, pergolas and shade structures, motorized awnings, screen rooms, porch roofs and custom decks. The certification bar became a proof section that explains what each partnership means for the homeowner, manufacturer backed warranties and factory trained installation, rather than showing badges and hoping. The self performed crews and to the penny proposals are stated as differentiators because in this market they are. Reviews, the MHIC license number and a residential portfolio give a buyer everything they need before requesting a proposal.

The site now sells engineered products with warranties behind them, not just labor. Homeowners understand the difference between a three season and four season room before they call, and the certifications finally explain why this company costs what it costs.
